It’s tempting to try to get more done by doing too many things at once. Whether you call it multi-tasking, switch tasking or being a superhero high-achieving entrepreneur, there is a downside that can negatively impact your life and your business.

In episode 63 of Amplify Your Success Podcast, I’ll cover five of the most common costs of multi-tasking, as well as three simple ways to level up your productivity game.

Key Takeaways

  • A common fire-drill that costs most business owners the ability to stay focused and productive
  • The hidden cost to answering important questions when you are “in the focus zone”
  • Why jumping between projects actually produces more errors and increases your overwhelm
  • How my simple focus boundary can save your marriage, increase team efficiency and help you get more done
  • The two tools I recommend to keep you focused on your most important activities

As a creative entrepreneur or new small business owner, there is a lot to learn about trademarking and copyrighting your brand, which makes it easy to skip over! But a business without the proper legal protection leaves itself open to getting their ideas swiped.

There is not a day that goes by I don’t see a Facebook post from a fellow influential business leader who found someone copying their signature program or has stolen their trademark sales copy. A hard-learned lesson for many business owners: just because you created it doesn’t mean it’s protected!

My friend Deborah Sweeney, CEO of MyCorporation.com, one of the top two online legal resources, joins me on episode 62 of Amplify Your Success Podcast to share what every entrepreneur should do now to protect their intellectual property and brand – before it gets costly!

Key Takeaways

  • Deborah shares how she leapt from in-house legal counsel to owner of one of the top two, most prestigious online legal resources, MyCorporation.
  • Not sure what the difference is between a trademark and a copyright –and when you should do either? Listen in to learn what a business owner needs to do to protect their brand.
  • When your business is caught in a competitive market, Deborah shares unique insight on how to continue to grow and thrive (and even get the competition to come to YOU for leads!)

About The Guest

Deborah Sweeney is the CEO and owner of MyCorporation.com. She acquired the company out of Intuit in 2009 after she ran the division under Intuit. The company continues to thrive and grow. Deborah is a former law firm partner who practiced corporate and intellectual property law after graduating with a JD/MBA from Pepperdine University. She has 2 teen boys and an entrepreneurial husband, all 3 of whom love to play soccer and listen to great podcasts!

When you are ready to grow your business, you’ll want to hire a super star employee or virtual assistant to delegate to. But far too often an entrepreneur skips a good hiring process and ends up disappointed with their team. But if you understand the four primary information processing styles, you’ll have a secret weapon to hiring the right people the first time.

In episode 61 of Amplify Your Success Podcast, I’ll share one of my most valuable business coaching tools that provides instant clarity and a valuable hiring tactic for my clients.

Key Takeaways

  • What the most common (and costly) hiring mistake is that a majority of small business owners make.
  • What each of the four primary information processing styles are.
  • Why high-achieving, fast-paced, results-oriented entrepreneurs get super frustrated with supportive assistants (and give up on them before they get to the gold!)
  • A unique but massively valuable approach to clarifying processing styles to make sure you have the best fit!

Whether you are a small business owner or a business leader, influence is important if you want others to follow you. Influence is the art of inspiring others to think or act in a certain way.

As you follow any “guru” or online celebrity on Youtube or Facebook and you’ll recognize a certain charisma and character that attracts people to their work. But influence is way more than character alone – there are certain traits that a business leader needs to cultivate to be more influential. In episode 60 of Amplify Your Success Podcast, I’ll guide you through the 6 most important ways to boost your influence so you stand out in your industry.

Key Takeaways

  • A subtle influential factor we can learn from celebrities like the Kardashians and Gary V.
  • What’s the difference between leadership, influence and authority (and why it’s important to know before you build your own influence platform.)
  • How to build up your influence even if you are just getting started.
  • The key to leveraging other people’s influence to rev up your authority in any marketplace.
  • What you can do if you can’t get people to listen to your vision or directives.
